Health & Safety
Can my dog get minor cuts or scrapes while at daycare?
It is possible for dogs in dog daycare to experience minor cuts or scrapes while engaging in playful activities. While our staff supervises playtime closely, rough play can sometimes lead to these small injuries. We do not allow aggressive dogs and monitor all interactions carefully. However, some rare instances of more moderate injuries may occur, though we address them promptly.
What is Canine Cough, and should I be worried?
Canine Cough, also known as Kennel Cough, is similar to a mild cold in humans. While it is contagious, it is generally not serious, and most dogs recover without treatment. We require that all dogs are vaccinated for Bordetella, but note that it does not cover all strains. Despite our precautions, occasional outbreaks may still happen. If your dog shows signs of coughing, please consult your veterinarian.
How do you handle fleas and ticks?
We require all dogs to be flea- and tick-free and on preventative medication before entering K9 Resorts Wellington. While we do not have fleas or ticks in our facility, ensuring that your dog is on medication helps maintain a clean environment for all our guests.
Behavior & Physical Changes
Will my dog get tired or experience diarrhea?
Excitement and the change in routine can sometimes lead to diarrhea or tiredness in dogs. This is completely normal and typically resolves within a few days. Some dogs may lose a little weight due to the increased activity and exercise they get while staying with us.
Is it normal for my dog to have a hoarse voice or nose rubs?
Some dogs may develop hoarseness from barking or playing excitedly. This is similar to how humans can lose their voice from loud cheering. Additionally, some dogs may rub their noses against the bottom of their accommodations out of curiosity, which could result in minor abrasions. These issues are temporary and resolve after their stay.
Care & Grooming
Do you provide baths for the dogs?
Yes! We provide a bath for all dogs staying two or more days to ensure they leave clean and fresh. If your dog happens to get dirty after their bath due to playtime, we will happily re-bathe them at no extra charge.
Veterinary Care
What about veterinary care or medical charges?
K9 Resorts Wellington does not cover veterinary charges related to minor cuts, Canine Cough, or other common issues that may arise. While we do everything possible to ensure your dog’s safety and well-being, these types of situations are sometimes unavoidable in a boarding or daycare environment.
Dog's Overall Experience
How likely is it that my dog will experience any of these issues?
The chances of your dog encountering any of these situations are less than 1%. Our commitment to safety, cleanliness, and care ensures that most dogs return home happy, healthy, and tired from all the fun. With over 17 years of experience and thousands of satisfied customers, we are proud to be a trusted name in pet care.
