Dog Daycare Frequently Asked Questions

At K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel Plano, we understand that your dog’s well-being is a top priority. Our dog daycare services are designed to provide your pet with a safe, fun, and enriching experience while you're away. Here are some frequently asked questions about our dog daycare program.

Benefits of Dog Daycare

Is dog daycare good for dogs?
Yes, dog daycare offers numerous benefits for your pet. It provides physical exercise, mental stimulation, and an opportunity to socialize with other dogs. Daycare helps reduce unwanted behaviors, such as excessive barking, by offering a productive outlet for your dog’s energy. It also eases separation anxiety by allowing your dog to get used to spending time away from you in a safe and fun environment. If your dog doesn't enjoy group play, we offer one-on-one playtime with our trained staff.

Dog Daycare Routine

How often should my dog go to dog daycare?
We recommend that dogs attend daycare as often as possible, depending on your schedule and their energy levels. Most dogs come 2-4 times per week, but some dogs enjoy daycare so much that they attend up to five days a week! Routine visits help your dog stay socialized and maintain a healthy activity level.

Do you separate dogs by size in dog daycare?
Yes, we separate dogs by size to ensure safety and comfort. Dogs weighing 30 pounds and above are placed in our large playgroup, while dogs 29 pounds and under are placed in the small playgroup. This ensures that each dog is in a group with others of similar size and temperament.

Daycare Evaluations

What is a dog daycare evaluation?
Before your dog can join our daycare, we perform an evaluation to assess their temperament and compatibility with the group. This evaluation helps us determine if they are suitable for group play or would be more comfortable with one-on-one time with our staff. The evaluation typically lasts at least 3 hours to ensure that your dog has time to acclimate to the environment and our staff.

How do I know if my dog likes dog daycare?
Most dogs adjust well to daycare after a few visits. Initially, they may need some time to get used to the environment, but by their second or third visit, many dogs become excited as soon as they arrive. Owners often share that their dogs are eager to go to daycare and even show signs of excitement when they hear the word "daycare."

Health & Safety

What shots do dogs need to participate in daycare?
To ensure the health and safety of all our guests, we require dogs to have up-to-date vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella (Intranasal is preferred), and Canine Influenza (the Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent version). Please contact us for any specific vaccination requirements.

Can my dog attend daycare if they are reactive to other dogs?
If your dog struggles with aggression or has a history of reacting poorly to other dogs, daycare may not be the best option. Please let us know about any behavioral concerns so we can assess if behavioral training or one-on-one sessions are necessary before attending daycare.

Cancellations & Changes

How much notice needs to be given to cancel or change my dog's daycare reservation?
No deposit is required for daycare, and cancellations made up to 72 hours in advance are free of charge. If you cancel within 72 hours, you will be charged for the full daycare session or one day will be deducted from your daycare package. Please contact us as soon as your plans change to avoid any charges.

Preparing for Daycare

What should I bring for my dog’s daycare visit?
For daycare, we provide everything your dog needs, including toys, treats, and water. You’re welcome to bring your dog’s favorite toys (rubber or plastic only) to make them feel at home, but please avoid fabric toys for safety and cleanliness.
