K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel Houston-Heights

Is dog daycare good for dogs?

Yes! Doggy daycare provides numerous benefits for most dogs, including:

  • Physical Exercise & Mental Stimulation: Engaging in group activities and supervised play helps reduce excess energy and prevents unwanted behaviors like excessive barking.
  • Socialization Opportunities: Your dog will interact with other dogs of similar size and temperament, promoting positive social behaviors in a safe and structured environment.
  • Separation Anxiety Relief: Spending time away from home in a fun and nurturing setting helps ease separation anxiety and builds confidence.
  • A Safe, Supervised Environment: Our trained staff ensures all dogs are well cared for, whether they participate in group play or receive personalized one-on-one attention.

Not all dogs thrive in a daycare setting, especially those with reactivity or aggression issues. If you’re unsure, we recommend a behavioral evaluation before enrollment.

How often should my dog attend daycare?

Dogs benefit from attending daycare as often as possible, with many owners bringing their pets 2-4 times per week. A consistent schedule helps dogs establish routines, develop friendships, and stay physically and mentally engaged.

What is a dog daycare evaluation?

Every new dog undergoes a daycare evaluation to assess their temperament and compatibility with group play. Our trained staff carefully introduces them to other dogs in a controlled environment to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

How do I know if my dog enjoys daycare?

Happy daycare dogs typically display signs such as:

  • Excitedly pulling toward the entrance upon arrival
  • Wagging their tail and interacting positively with staff and other dogs
  • Returning home tired but content Many owners even report that their dogs recognize daycare days and get excited before leaving home!

Are dogs separated by size in daycare?

Yes. To ensure safety and comfort, we separate dogs into two groups:

What happens during a daycare evaluation?

A daycare evaluation typically lasts three or more hours and includes:

  1. Gradual introductions to existing daycare dogs
  2. Observing play behavior and social interactions
  3. Assessing comfort levels and compatibility for group play We encourage pet parents to leave their dog for a full day after evaluation to help with acclimation.
