Is doggie daycare good for dogs? Why?
Doggie daycare is good for many dogs, as it offers socialization, exercise, mental stimulation, and professional care. Let’s dive into some of the benefits:
- Socialization: Dogs are naturally social animals. Regular interaction with other dogs and humans at our daycare can help them develop better social skills. Socialization can reduce anxiety and fear around other dogs and new environments, leading to better behavior overall.
- Exercise: Our daycare provides ample opportunities for physical activity, with our indoor and outdoor play areas! Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight and reduces the risk of health issues such as obesity and joint problems.
- Mental Stimulation: Engaging activities and new experiences at daycare provide mental stimulation, which is essential for a dog’s cognitive health. Mental engagement helps keep dogs happy and well-behaved!
- Routine and Structure: Many dogs thrive on routine. Daycare provides a structured environment with regular activities, playtimes, and rest periods. This consistency can reduce stress and create a sense of security for your dog.
- Reduced Separation Anxiety: Dogs suffering from separation anxiety can benefit from the companionship and attention provided at daycare, as being in a busy environment with other dogs and staff can distract them from the absence of their owners.
Do you separate dogs by size in dog daycare?
Yes, we do! We provide small dog daycare for dogs under 30 pounds, and large dog daycare for dogs over 30 pounds. This ensures that every dog can play and interact in a safe environment appropriate for their size and energy levels. With size separation, we reduce the risk of accidental injuries and create a more fun experience for your furry friend.
How often should I take my dog to daycare?
The best frequency for daycare can vary depending on your dog’s needs and your schedule, though we recommend you take your dog to daycare as often as possible! Dogs that enjoy socializing with other dogs and people can thrive with regular daycare visits. For these dogs, 2-4 times a week is usually ideal. High-energy dogs often benefit from attending daycare frequently, consistent attendance can help with behavior training and social skills, and if you have a busy schedule or long work hours, regular daycare visits can provide your pup with extra interaction and exercise.
What shots does my pet need to participate in daycare?
At K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel Fairfield, we require up-to-date vaccinations for the following: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella (with a strong preference for "Merck Nobivac Intra-trac3" Intranasal), and Canine Influenza (with a strong preference for the "Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent" version, which protects against both H3N8 and H3N2 strains).
What is a dog daycare evaluation?
Our trained and certified staff evaluates every dog on their first day, to ensure the safest and most fun environment possible. During our routine evaluation process, we assess your dog’s temperament and their compatibility with a group of dogs.
